2)

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My media product represents particular social groups by identifying different target audiences and age groups. I have targeted my audience around the ages of teenagers towards young people. I have managed to find an image bellow of the 'Facebook' logo. This represents my social net-working sites. Facebook
is a social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. Since September 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid e-mail address can become a Facebook user. Facebook's target audience is more for adults than youths. Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks organized by workplace, school, or college. This is my main relation to my target audience.

Myspace is also another social net-working site. MySpace is a social networking website. Its headquarters are in Beverly Hills, California where it shares an office building with its immediate owner, News Corp. Digital Media, owned by News Corporation. MySpace became the most popular social networking site in the United States in June 2006. According to comScore, MySpace was overtaken internationally by its main competitor, Facebook, in April 2008, based on monthly unique visitors. MySpace employs 1,000 employees, after laying off 30% of its workforce in June 2009; the company does not disclose revenues or profits separately from News Corporation. The 100 millionth account was created on August 9, 2006, in the Netherlands. Below are some images relating to Myspace.

My media product represents social groups, its not just based at one social group, i have tried to use images of teenagers in the croud and then contrasting it with Dj's from festival pictures i took. With the target audience in mind i decided to brand my music magazine towards colours relating to the Reading Festival logo.. i used yellow with my borders etc, to relate to the eye catching logo, with also ties in with Reading and my Target audience as Reading festival is aimed at teenagers and young people. I have also used slag/ abbreviations/ contractions/ emphasisms etc.. to relate to the music magazine, using NME as a focus point, i got the idea of using slogans at the top of the frount cover and the double page spreads. This draws attention to the audience - and relates to the readers eg: about 'summer time'.
For these reasons this is why my media product represents particular social groups.
